Wild About Learning!

It is hard to believe that Clayton is already in the 3rd grade! He was so excited to find out that he has Mrs. Lawson for his teacher this year. Brickey-McCloud has a school wide theme each year to get the students motivated for our Accelerated Reading program. The theme this year is "Read through a Jungle of Books"! This is what it looks like entering the 3rd grade hall. Clayton's teacher has always taught Kindergarten and so it has been fascinating to watch her bring hands-on learning to 3rd grade! Clayton LOVES her! He comes home everyday telling me about so much that he has learned and done! I am so proud of him! Here he is outside his classroom door. Of course he thinks that 3rd graders' parents do not walk them to the room on the first day, so I had to wait until after school to get his picture. This is a giraffe that Mrs. Lawson made to hold the books the kids read while waiting in the hallway before class starts. She is super creative!
The thing I have loved most about this year, is watching Clayton mature into the responsible, smart, caring young man that God created him to be! He loves to bring home his work and study and prepare for school. During the first week of school, Mrs. Lawson said that she had given them an "All about Me" newspaper to complete. They did most of it in class, but needed to add more details and pictures for homework. She told me that she was touched that Clayton said his favorite song was "Blessed Be Your Name" and his hero was Tim Tebow because he was a Christian and he admired him for telling others about Jesus. Well needless to say, when I saw his project I was overwhelmed with emotion! He said one of the most important events of his life, was when Claire was born and then he wrote an article about how he had prayed for her and details of her birth! That is a homework project that I will treasure forever! It is a testimony to God's faithfulness- Deuteronomy 11:19
Father, thank you so much for my gift, my blessing, my sweet son, Clayton! May he truly know you and glorify you in all that he does and says.
