Sunday we went to Church Street United Methodist for one of Clayton's favorite Christmas activities, A Walk Through Bethlehem. We went with the Grooms clan and had so much fun pretending to be walking on the streets of Bethlehem the night our Savior was born. As we entered, we had to fill out a census card to let them know how many people we had. They had guards walking around making sure everyone was doing this! First we met the three wise men. Here they are explaining their gifts to the boys.
The boys enjoyed making jewelry, tasting foods from that time period, and making a star out of clay.At the end of our walk, we came to an inn. The innkeeper told us that they did not have room for us and that everyone had been talking about a baby that had been born that night. When we went around the corner, we saw Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus!
Then we followed the shepherds outside to see the animals. The boys got to pet a donkey and camel.

This was a great opportunity to focus on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ and how he loves us so much that He came to Earth as a baby and then grew to be the man that died on the cross for our sins! What an amazing love!
So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Luke 2: 15-16
